We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to join our finance department. This contract position is dedicated to a specific "Project Clean Up" initiative, focused on auditing and reconciling legacy, open projects to ensure they are accurately documented and successfully closed out in our financial systems.

Core Responsibilities
Project Reconciliation & Audit: Perform comprehensive audits of historical project activities. Reconcile project accounts to identify discrepancies and ensure accuracy.
Financial Transactions: Process journal entries and revenue transactions as required to correct project records.
Project Close-out: Manage the formal process of reconciling and requesting the closure of assigned projects upon successful completion.
Data Analysis: Engage in thorough reviews of financial data and documentation to ensure compliance with relevant grant requirements and notice of award stipulations.
Collaboration: Work independently while effectively coordinating with various finance teams to resolve complex issues and complete required transactions.

Qualifications
Education: Bachelors degree in accounting or finance, or equivalent compensatory experience in the accounting field.
Experience: 2 4 years of professional accounting or auditing experience.

Technical Knowledge:
Thorough understanding and application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Thorough understanding and application of Generally Accepted Audit Standards (GAAS).
Solid knowledge of governmental accounting principles.

Skills:
Exceptional problem-solving abilities with a focus on researching and recommending remedies for complex financial issues.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively across all levels of an organization.
Proven ability to work independently, manage pressure, and exercise diplomacy and tact.
Experience developing and following established financial procedures.
