The Market Operations Associate provides real-time operational and technical support to market participants and internal stakeholders, helping ensure fair and orderly markets and the stability of trading and clearing systems. This individual works closely with engineering, product, and business teams to help resolve time-sensitive issues and support the day-to-day operation of electronic markets.
This role is well-suited for an early-career professional who is adaptable, highly motivated to learn, and comfortable operating in fast-moving, high-visibility environments. Associates take initiative to understand client needs and help guide adoption of trading, clearing, and data services while building foundational expertise in market structure and trading systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop working knowledge of trading systems, market functionality, order types, and external interfaces
- Provide technical and non-technical support to market participants, including futures commission merchants (FCMs), clearing banks, and industry partners
- Monitor system health and trading environment integrity; escalate issues as appropriate
- Gather and synthesize user feedback and coordinate with engineering teams during incident resolution
- Maintain listed contracts, including product specifications, trading parameters, and settlement terms
- Execute and follow established operational procedures and controls
- Assist with building and maintaining automation scripts supporting operational workflows
- Collaborate with Technology Operations, Product Management, Sales, Quality Assurance, Compliance, and Regulatory teams
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education and professional experience
- 2+ years of experience in trade support, middle-office operations, quantitative trade consulting, compliance, or systems/technology roles within institutional trading or exchange environments
- Demonstrated initiative and curiosity to develop subject matter expertise
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to learn new technical concepts quickly, including beginner-level Python or SQL
- Willingness to support an event-driven schedule and participate in on-call rotations
Preferred
- Exposure to electronic trading, institutional brokerage, exchanges, or U.S. futures market structure
- Basic Python scripting experience for automation or workflow support
- Experience with data analysis or querying using Python or SQL
- Familiarity with automation scheduling tools such as Rundeck
