Salary Range: $110k - $125k Full-Time Permanent Position with Benefits A leading Salem, Ohio area manufacturing firm to recruit a skilled Sales Proposal Engineer. In this role, you will bridge the gap between complex engineering concepts and commercial sales execution. You will leverage your technical expertise to design comprehensive technical proposals, collaborate directly with clients, and engineer custom solutions that turn opportunities into signed contracts. You will directly assist Sales Managers in calculating, sizing, and compiling critical technical data, including: Cost estimations and defined scope of supply. System, component, and motor sizing (including motor lists). Utility requirement calculations and weight estimations. Responsibilities Partner with Sales Managers to develop high-impact presentations, qualification documents, and technical conference materials for prospective clients. Conduct ongoing market research to identify emerging customer needs, suggest product enhancements, and assess product marketability against customer thermal and manufacturing requirements. Lead the technical sizing, calculation, and preparation of proposals based on client Request for Quote (RFQ) documentation. Review proposals to mitigate business risks, ensure compliance with corporate engineering standards, and lock in competitive, fair-market pricing. Act as the internal liaison between engineering, drafting, estimating, and sales departments to keep proposal schedules on track and ensure seamless post-award project handoffs. Requirements Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering ($BSME$) or Electrical Engineering ($BSEE$). 3 to 5 years of engineering experience within a heavy mechanical manufacturing environment. Furnace industry experience is highly preferred. Proven ability to read, interpret, and analyze complex mechanical, electrical, and process drawings. Solid understanding of the structural/thermal components of industrial furnaces, alongside general knowledge of steel industry sales cycles, project schedules, and purchasing. Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel (including spreadsheets, charts, graphs, and macros). Exceptional written/verbal communication, strong independent problem-solving skills, and meticulous attention to detail.
