Job Description

Provide overall operational and technical leadership for various electric and gas consulting programs. Represent UDC to prospects and existing customers. Work with utility personnel at all levels of the organization. Provide presentations and conduct workshops to identify, define, and capture business and technical requirements and best practices. Manage deliverables for the consulting projects, including use-case development, requirements gathering, and largescale implementation strategy and road maps and reports. Coordinate and monitor consulting projects from initiation through delivery. Serve as liaison between UDC and clients to ensure all targets and requirements are met. Decompose high-level business requirements and user requirements into functional requirements, specified in an appropriate level of detail suitable for use by those who base their work on the requirements. Identify operational system interfaces, constraints, and other non-functional requirements. Work individually or within a team on technology consulting projects to meet specific customer requirements. Serve as a mentor to senior and entry-level consultants, developers, and engineers. Coach and manage consultant-level resources and actively participate in the performance expectation process.
Provide business development support to the sales team and account managers, including preparation and estimation of proposals for consulting and implementation projects. Create business relationships and support sales generation with high-level contacts, often through face-to-face and client site visits. Maintain an ongoing business relationship with current clients to facilitate future sales. Actively participate in thought leadership activities such as blogs, conferences, and public speaking opportunities.

Education and Experience Requirements

Primary Education & Experience Requirements: Bachelors Degree in GIS, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, IT, Computer Science, or a closely related field. Employer will accept a 3 or 4 -year degree or diploma or an associate membership examination deemed equivalent to a bachelor's degree by a qualified credential evaluator. Experience: 5 years (60 months) working in GIS data management consulting services or a closely related position.

Alternate Education & Experience Requirements: Masters degree in GIS, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, IT, Computer Science, or a closely related field. Experience: 3 years (36 months) working in a GIS data management consulting service or a closely related position.

Special Skills Requirements

The position also requires functional expertise (3 years of experience) in GIS data management (in electric, gas and/or water utilities) consulting services in conflation, conversion, and migration for large and medium scale projects utilizing ESRI, SmallWorld, and Microstation AutoCAD, and Utility Network platforms.

Employees in this position may work at various unanticipated worksites throughout the U.S. nationwide. May also work from home remotely up to 100% of the time from anywhere in the U.S.
