Shipping & Receiving Associate (Customer Service Backup)

Position Overview:

Micro Logic Inc. is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Shipping & Receiving Associate for our Mahwah, NJ location. This role is primarily responsible for managing all shipping and receiving operations, ensuring accurate and timely movement of materials and finished goods.

In addition, this position serves as a backup to the Customer Service team, assisting with order updates, customer communication, and issue resolution as needed. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and wants to gain exposure to both logistics and customer-facing operations within a machine shop setting.

Key Responsibilities:

Shipping & Receiving (Primary Focus):

  • Prepare, package, and ship outgoing orders accurately and efficiently

  • Receive, inspect, and verify incoming materials and shipments

  • Label, document, and organize inventory in designated storage areas

  • Utilize shipping software and carriers (UPS, FedEx, etc.) to generate labels and track shipments

  • Maintain shipping records and ensure timely dispatch of all orders

  • Perform quality checks on incoming and outgoing shipments

Inventory & Material Handling:

  • Safely handle raw materials and finished goods

  • Maintain accurate inventory levels and assist with cycle counts

  • Organize warehouse space to support efficient workflow

Order Processing & Data Entry:

  • Enter and update shipment, inventory, and order data in internal systems

  • Ensure all documentation is accurate and up to date

Customer Service Support (Backup Role):

  • Assist with customer inquiries regarding order status, shipping updates, and delivery timelines

  • Communicate delays or issues proactively and professionally

  • Support order entry and coordination when needed

Logistics Coordination:

  • Coordinate pickups, deliveries, and transportation scheduling

  • Work with carriers to resolve shipping issues or delays

Workspace Organization & Compliance:

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment

  • Follow company policies and safety regulations at all times

Cross-Training & Operational Support:

  • Gain exposure to overall operations, including coordination with sales, purchasing, and production teams

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training preferred

  • Prior shipping & receiving or warehouse experience preferred

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with shipping software

  • Ability to multitask and shift priorities in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong communication skills for internal coordination and customer interaction

  • Team-oriented with a proactive and problem-solving mindset

  • Willingness to learn and support multiple departments

  • This position requires regular physical activity in accordance with safe work practices and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines. Duties include lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling materials as part of daily shipping operations.

  • Ability to safely lift and move items weighing up to 40 pounds.

  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching throughout the shift.

Preferred (Not Required):

  • Experience in a manufacturing or machine shop environment

  • Basic understanding of machining or mechanical processes

  • Familiarity with ERP systems or inventory tracking software
