In 2024, we broke ground on more than 2,900 apartment homes across the Midwest and were recognized as the Multifamily Builder in the nation by the National Multifamily Housing Council. We're seeking an experienced Lead Field Superintendent to take the lead on one of our upcoming multifamily developments in Caledonia, Wisconsin. Your First Project This opportunity starts with a $40 million ground-up multifamily community consisting of approximately 280 apartment homes, multiple residential buildings, a clubhouse, swimming pool, and complete site development. The project is scheduled to begin in late summer and will run approximately 18 months from groundbreaking through completion. We're looking for someone who can join our team now to participate in onboarding, training, and project planning prior to mobilization. What You'll Do As the leader on-site, you'll take ownership of daily field operations and drive the project from startup through turnover. You'll coordinate structural, civil, and MEP trades, manage subcontractor performance, enforce safety standards, and maintain schedule momentum while delivering a high-quality product. Key responsibilities include:Leading all day-to-day field operations on a large-scale multifamily construction projectDriving project schedules and coordinating activities between tradesManaging quality control, inspections, punch lists, and project turnoverIdentifying and resolving field issues through proactive planning and constructability solutionsPartnering with Project Managers, design teams, inspectors, and subcontractors to keep work moving efficientlyMaintaining a safe, organized, and productive jobsite cultureSupervising and developing field staff while holding teams accountable for performance expectationsLeadership Development At Horizon, we believe great superintendents are also great leaders. Requirements: Job minimum of ten years' experience in construction, including large-scale multi-family residential and/or commercial construction, is required for this position.Required to have or get upon employment OSHA30 and First Aid/CPR certificationFamiliarity with all facets of construction, including earthwork, drainage, framing, finishes and all mechanicals is a must.A high degree of construction field expertise will be required.Ability to supervise, teach and motivate staff; willingness to perform any task that is required and possess good safety habits.The person in this position must be able to communicate clearly and effectively, verbally and in writing, with other members of the construction department and with third-party contractors and tradesman, as well as with company owners and managers, and all other office team members.Strong organizational skills, and the ability to handle multiple projects and meet critical time deadlines are crucial to this position.Ability to problem solve.
