Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated educator to provide standards-based instruction to students who are visually impaired, with and without additional disabilities, in a K 12 educational setting. This role reports to the School Principal and involves delivering individualized and group instruction aligned with state academic standards and each student's Individualized Education Program (IEP).
Qualified teachers with appropriate content-area certification are encouraged to apply. Candidates who are not currently endorsed as a Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments (TVI) may be considered and supported in obtaining the required endorsement within a designated timeframe.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and deliver standards-based lesson plans aligned with student IEPs.
Adapt instructional materials to meet diverse learning needs.
Maintain a positive, structured, and engaging classroom environment.
Collect and monitor student performance data and track progress toward educational goals.
Participate as a member of a multidisciplinary educational team to develop, implement, and evaluate individualized learning objectives.
Collaborate with instructional and related service staff to support student success.
Participate in faculty meetings, team meetings, and other school-related activities.
Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress.
Participate in professional development and training opportunities.
Plan and/or supervise on-campus and off-campus educational activities, field trips, and appointments.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Education from an accredited college or university.
Current teaching license or eligibility for state educator licensure.
Subject-area certification in Spanish.
Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments (TVI) endorsement preferred, or willingness to obtain the endorsement within the required timeframe.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of state academic standards and instructional best practices.
Experience working with students with visual impairments and/or multiple disabilities preferred.
Strong classroom management, curriculum planning, assessment, and progress-monitoring skills.
Proficiency with educational technology and common computer applications.
Ability to adapt instruction for both traditional and technology-enhanced learning environments.
Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Commitment to continuous professional growth and responsiveness to feedback.
Employment Requirements
Verification of education and professional experience.
Successful completion of all required pre-employment background screening, including criminal history, fingerprinting, employment verification, and reference checks, in accordance with applicable laws and organizational policies.
Authorization to work in the United States.
