Please note, although this position is hybrid, the employer requires that the candidate be located within a commutable distance from the office. Current schedule is 3 days in office each week.

This Senior Accountant position will be responsible for managing the accounting aspects of grants, capital requisitions, and contribute to accounting for PP&E for the organization. The role ensures compliance with guidelines and prepares financial reports for funding agencies of awarded grants. The reporting is to include SEFA; Schedule of Expenditures of Federal Awards is a report that lists all federal funds expended during a fiscal year. Additionally, this role will act as the gatekeeper for all capital requisitions to ensure they meet capital criteria and update capital spending reports each accounting period.

Key Grant Accounting Responsibilities include:

  • Award Administration:Setting up new grants, managing them throughout their lifecycle, and ensuring proper closeout procedures.
  • Budget Management:Assists in developing and maintaining detailed grant budgets, ensuring they align with grant guidelines and restrictions.
  • Expenditure Tracking:Monitoring grant expenditures, ensuring proper coding, documentation, and allocation to appropriate accounts.
  • Financial Reporting: Preparing financial reports for funding agencies, including utilization and compliance with reporting requirements.
  • Audits: Assists with audits including preparation of financial information, to regulatory or external audit personnel conducting audit examinations of grant funding compliance.

Key PP&E accounting responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining fixed assets to include all monthly PPE progressions and WIP updates.
  • Ensuring that monthly closing schedule is adhered to and prepare and enter assigned JE's monthly.
  • Preparing monthly AP and materials reconciliations.
  • Reviewing and preparing all monthly statistics reports; submit required stats to Decision Support by established deadlines.
  • Preparing and submitting sales tax payable on a monthly basis.
  • Printing and downloading all Robot reports for IHDNFB/+/- 10% reports and AR aging monthly.
  • Completing all required audit workpapers pertaining to PP&E
Qualifications:

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in an accounting position either corporate or public accounting
  • Strong computer software experience including Microsoft Excel.
  • Preference for candidates with Workday experience
