We are a 30-year boutique law firm in Torrance, in the South Bay area of Los Angeles, with the primary practice areas of Probate, Will and Trust Estate litigation, and trust preparation. We are seeking a skilled and experienced paralegal to support our growing legal team. The ideal candidate for this position will use their work experience and organizational skills to prepare and maintain correspondence, legal documents, prepare legal pleadings, maintain discovery, and prepare legal research memoranda for attorneys. This role will provide high-level paralegal support during all phases of litigation, from commencement of a new action to the discovery period through trial and appeals as applicable. This is an excellent opportunity for probate paralegals seeking to expand their careers who are interested in gaining fast-paced professional experience in a small South Bay firm.Compensation:$49,970 - $77,500 yearlyResponsibilities:The Paralegal will be working in person and full-timeResponsible for conducting legal research, preparing discovery requests and responses, Motions to Compel Discovery, as well as oppositions, preparing petitions and complaints, communicating with clients, drafting other legal documents, and other tasks as assignedAnswering phones, obtaining necessary information from callers onto the Clio system, routing calls, and making call logsMaintain files on Clio and tangible filesUse daily timekeeping records for yourself and attorneysA successful Paralegal will manage time wisely, have great writing and research skills, and will ask the attorneys questions when unsure about a task or other assignmentThe Paralegal will work closely with both attorneys and clients, will be able to handle sensitive information, and will be committed to providing exceptional legal servicesContact outside sources to retrieve information and review and analyze sameSearch and retrieve information from court-related databases as well as other online sources for case informationOrganize materials needed for expert witness reviewReview, analyze, and organize document productions by opposing parties and co-defendantsSummarize transcripts and organize key documentsPrepare and organize materials needed for expert witness reviewManage documents and maintain organized case filesHandles all aspects of document preparation, including processing edits, generating redlines, PDF creation, conversions, and quality control of work productSeeks ways of being professional and responsive to clients, providing superior client serviceUtilizes applications like Excel and Adobe with proficiency to facilitate attorney's workPerforms other related duties and special projects as assignedAssures that all completed projects adhere to accepted professional standardsDemonstrates strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills to facilitate effective work relationships with othersManages Firm resources responsiblyComplies with and understands Firm operations, policies, and proceduresRegular and reliable physical presence at work as part of a teamDraft certain motions and pleadingsCite-check briefs and motions to ensure consistency with sources cited and proper citation style (ALWD citation style)Coordinate service of processPrepare and coordinate service of subpoenas, with Notice to Consumer.Prepare properly formatted templates of briefs, motions, and other filings compliant with the California rules. Proofread briefs, motions, and other filings prior to filingAssemble appendices and exhibitsCoordinate printing and delivery of briefs, compliantCommunicate with clerk's offices for the courtsElectronically file briefs and other materialsOrganize exhibits, files, and all other supporting documentsEach team member is expected to provide professional, efficient, and thoughtful support to the attorneys.
