Schedule

1st Shift:
Monday-Thursday: 6:00 AM-3:00 PM
Friday: 6:00 AM-12:00 PM
Overtime available

Position Summary

New Tech Metals is seeking a skilled and dependable MIG Welder / Fabricator to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will weld and fabricate aluminum and steel components/frames using MIG and other welding processes. You will work from blueprints, drawings, and specifications to produce high-quality assemblies that meet customer and company requirements.


The ideal candidate is a conscientious, self-motivated individual who takes pride in craftsmanship, quality, safety, and getting the job done right the first time.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • MIG weld aluminum and steel components and frames using fixtures, jigs, and other tooling.
  • Set up and position components in fixtures to prepare assemblies for welding.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, drawings, and product specifications.
  • Select and properly use appropriate welding equipment, processes, and materials.
  • Perform welding, thermal cutting, grinding, and other fabrication operations as required.
  • Repair broken, cracked, or defective components and fill holes when necessary.
  • Trim, file, grind, deburr, buff, and smooth finished surfaces.
  • Inspect welded assemblies and finished products for dimensional accuracy, workmanship, and conformance to specifications.
  • Identify and communicate quality issues, defects, or discrepancies.
  • Maintain welding equipment, tools, fixtures, and work areas in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Follow established work instructions, procedures, and safety requirements.
  • Work effectively with team members, supervisors, and other departments to meet production and quality goals.
  • Maintain an environment of professionalism, respect, human dignity, and ethical behavior with coworkers, customers, suppliers, and the communities we serve.
  • Promote and maintain a safe and healthy workplace by promptly addressing or reporting unsafe conditions and practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Welding or metal fabrication education from a technical school or community college preferred.
  • 3-6 months of related welding or fabrication experience and/or training required.
  • One or more years of welding or fabrication experience preferred.
  • Experience welding aluminum and steel strongly preferred.
  • Experience working from blueprints and fabrication drawings preferred.

Physical Requirements

While performing the essential functions of this position, the employee will regularly be required to:

  • Stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Use hands and fingers to handle tools, materials, and components.
  • Reach with hands and arms.
  • Bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, and balance as required.
  • Occasionally sit, crawl, or work in awkward positions.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds, with appropriate assistance or equipment as required.
  • Perform work requiring close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception, as well as color recognition and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment & Safety

The employee will work in a manufacturing environment and may frequently be exposed to:

  • Welding fumes and airborne particles
  • Moving mechanical equipment
  • Vibration
  • Heat and sparks associated with welding and fabrication
  • Moderate to elevated noise levels

Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is required, including safety glasses, safety footwear, welding protection, and other PPE appropriate to the task.
