Job Description
Senior Archaeologist (New South Associates, Inc., Columbia, SC). Requires a Master's or foreign equivalent degree in anthropology, archaeology, maritime studies, history, historic preservation, geography, geosciences, cultural resources management, archaeological heritage management or a related field and 4 years of experience in the job offered or 4 years of cultural resource management experience, in an archaeological context, in the Southeastern United States, including at least 2 years of project management experience in a senior technical role specific to cultural resource management. Also required is 4 years of experience implementing Federal and State environmental compliance laws and guidelines with an emphasis on projects in South Carolina implementing the South Carolina Institute for Archaeology and Anthropology (SCIAA) procedures and guidelines. Must also possess 2 years of experience conducting archaeological surveys and collecting archaeological data using digital data capture methods. Must also have completed at least 10 cultural resource management projects that include client-required deliverables consistent with either NRHP or state-specific guidelines and possess a clear understanding of the precontact and historical archaeological record of the Southeastern United States, as demonstrated through authorship of at least 10 cultural resource management reports. Also required is Register of Professional Archaeologists (RPA) membership, OSHA 10 certification, and AAUS Scientific Diver and Divemaster certification. No relocation available.
