Job Description: Job Description School Counselor - District Wide Killeen Independent School District Elementary, Middle & High School OpportunitiesFull-Time Exempt District Wide Killeen Independent School District is seeking dedicated, student-centered School Counselors to support students across elementary, middle, and high school campuses throughout the district. This is a district-wide recruitment opportunity. Selected candidates will be assigned to an elementary, middle, or high school campus based on district needs, candidate qualifications, and available vacancies. In this role, you'll help students achieve academic success while supporting their social-emotional development, college and career readiness, and overall well-being. What You'll Do As a School Counselor with KISD, you will: Student Counseling & SupportProvide individual and group counseling to support students' academic, social, emotional, and personal developmentHelp students develop skills in decision-making, goal setting, problem solving, and self-advocacyProvide responsive services and intervention for students experiencing academic, behavioral, social, or emotional challengesIdentify students who may need additional support and coordinate appropriate interventions and resourcesSupport students during crisis situations and make referrals to appropriate school or community resources when needed Academic & College/Career ReadinessHelp students understand academic requirements and develop plans for educational successGuide students in exploring educational, career, and postsecondary opportunities appropriate to their grade levelAssist students with course selection, graduation planning, and college or career preparation as applicableWork with students, families, and staff to address barriers that may impact attendance, achievement, or successful school completionUse student data to identify needs and develop targeted counseling programs and interventions Collaboration & Campus SupportPartner with teachers, administrators, families, and other school professionals to support student successCommunicate with parents and guardians regarding student needs, progress, and available resourcesParticipate in campus meetings and student support initiativesConsult with staff regarding students' academic, behavioral, social, and emotional needsConnect students and families with appropriate district and community resources Program & CompliancePlan, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive school counseling program aligned with district and state requirementsMaintain accurate and confidential student records and documentationFollow district policies, professional standards, and applicable state and federal requirementsParticipate in professional development and district counseling initiativesPerform other counseling-related duties as assigned based on campus and student needs What You Bring Education & CredentialsMaster's degree from an accredited college or universityValid Texas School Counselor Certificate, or eligibility to obtain appropriate Texas certificationMeet all certification and eligibility requirements established by the Texas Education Agency and Killeen ISD Skills & ExpertiseStrong understanding of school counseling practices and student developmentAbility to provide effective individual and group counselingStrong communication, organization, and interpersonal skillsAbility to build positive relationships with students, families, teachers, administrators, and community partnersAbility to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgmentComfortable using student information systems and other digital documentation toolsAbility to work effectively with students from a wide range of backgrounds and educational needs Work Environment & ExpectationsThis is a full-time, on-site position requiring daily presence at your assigned Killeen ISD campusPositions may be available at elementary, middle, and high school campuses throughout Killeen ISDCampus placement will be based on district needs, qualifications, and available vacanciesRegular interaction with students, families, faculty, and campus leadershipOccasional evening or school-related events may be requiredAbility to respond appropriately to student needs and crisis situations Why Killeen ISD?
