The Plumbers & Steamfitters Local 166, in partnership with our signatory contractors, is currently seeking EXPERIENCED Pipe Welders in the Fort Wayne and surrounding counties.
Must be knowledgeable in:
SMAW welding, uphill progression in the 6G position
GTAW welding, uphill progression in the 6G position
GMAW-P welding, with modified root. Must be proficient in more process than just GMAW-P.
Reading isometric drawings
Assembling piping fabrications per isometric drawings
Have verifiable experience in the mechanical industry welding on pipe.
Ability to create Xray quality welds repeatedly.
Some of the duties include:
Welding piping fabrications utilizing multiple welding processes
Fabrication of piping assemblies for cooling & heating systems, food process, industrial manufacturing, refineries, power generation, chemical plants, pharmaceutical facilities, water treatment, hospitals, schools and other industries.
Follow ASME code to comply with industry requirements
Be able to pass a background check and a drug screen

If you do not have experience as a Pipe Welder but are interested in learning the trade, you can learn more about our Joint Apprenticeship Training Center at . 1st year apprenticeship applications are being accepted for the June 2027 class.
Graduates will earn a Department of Labor Journeyman's card and an Associate's Degree in Applied Science from IVY Tech at no cost (a value of $50,000 to $70,000 scholarship).
Our apprenticeship is a free resource for all members with continuing education classes offered yearly.
