Job Details: The position begins as soon as possible and ends on June 28th, 2027. The schedule will be Monday through Friday, from 8am until 3pm. SmartStart Education see ks a Student Support Provider for Behavioral Incident Management and a Student Support Provider for Hallway and Restroom Monitor for support Monday through Friday at a high school in Bronx, NY.
  • Support student movement during class transitions to ensure timely arrival to class.
  • Monitor hallways through the school day to ensure students are moving through the building appropriately
  • Conduct periodic restroom checks to confirm they are being used appropriately and are not being vandalized.
  • Serve as a visible, reassuring presence for the students and staff throughout common areas.
  • Use a radio to contact building security if an incident arises.
  • Assist with lunch supervision and maintain an orderly cafeteria environment.
  • Address student behavior concerns using verbal redirection and de-escalation strategies.
  • Intervene in conflicts and assist in breaking up student altercations when necessary, following school protocols.
  • Facilitate the school's restorative justice process, including guiding students through written reflections and presentations to the school's kindness committee.
  • Contact parents/guardians regarding student suspensions or detentions.
  • Pick up students as needed and ensure adherence to suspension and detention requirements.
  • Work with teachers to collect and ensure completion of student work during periods of suspension or removal.
  • Communicate concerns and incidents promptly to administrators and appropriate staff.
  • Build positive rapport with students while modeling respectful and professional behavior.
  • Provide general support to administrators and staff as needed.
  • Other duties assigned by the administration.
  • Support the dismissal process at the end of the school day.
Hourly Range: $17.49/Hr. to $19.43/Hr. Qualified Candidates: If you believe that this position aligns with your qualifications and showcases your exceptional skills, we kindly request your confirmation regarding your ability to meet the following minimum requirements:
  • Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution in any field is mandatory. Please note that applications with anticipated graduation dates will not be considered.
  • Demonstrated experience of at least 6 months in a student support role or advising youth, either within a school environment or another learning and development setting.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the unique challenges faced by urban students, schools, and communities, encompassing racial disparity, socio-economic disparity, and cultural disparity.
  • Display of genuine passion and unwavering commitment towards fostering the success of students.
  • Exemplary punctuality, ensuring timely attendance and adherence to established schedules.
  • Proficiency in communication skills, enabling effective and articulate interaction with students, colleagues, and interested parties.
  • Ability to comfortably commute to the designated location.
  • Ability to comfortably navigate a school environment, including walking through hallways, classrooms, and stairways throughout the workday.
  • Calm, consistent, and fair approach to discipline and conflict.
  • Comfortable following restorative justice practices and facilitating student reflection.
  • Comfortable with the flexibility to support dismissal and lunch coverage daily.
  • Comfortable with a schedule of continuous hallway and building coverage.
