Position Summary
We are seeking dependable and skilled Welders / Robotic Welding Operators to join our growing manufacturing team. This position offers opportunities across
1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts in a modern, climate-controlled welding environment.
The Welder / Robotic Welding Operator is responsible for producing high-quality welded components and assemblies according to blueprints, welding specifications, quality requirements, and production schedules. This position may involve manual MIG/TIG welding, robotic welding operations, part inspection, grinding, material handling, and general weld-shop duties.
The ideal candidate is safety-conscious, dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Manually lift, position, and secure workpieces in fixtures or load parts into automated feeding systems using proper lifting techniques and equipment.
- Set up and operate welding equipment according to job specifications and established procedures.
- Calculate or adjust machine settings such as wire feed speed, amperage, polarity, shielding gas, and weld rod or wire requirements.
- Start and monitor welding machines and observe equipment operation to ensure proper performance.
- Load and unload components from robotic welding equipment.
- Remove completed welded frames and assemblies from robotic welders and place them in the appropriate containers or designated areas.
- Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind, or bolt component parts to achieve the required configuration and position for welding.
- Perform basic MIG and TIG welding techniques as required.
- Weld components in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions as required by the job.
- Read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, job specifications, quality control plans, traveler notes, and customer requirements.
- Verify that materials, components, weld types, and dimensions meet job specifications before and during production.
- Inspect and measure finished workpieces to verify conformance with specifications.
- Use gauges, measuring tools, and other inspection equipment as required.
- Remove rough edges, imperfections, and excess material using portable grinders, hand files, scrapers, sanders, or other approved tools.
- Remove excess weld, slag, and spatter using hand scrapers, power chippers, portable grinders, or other appropriate equipment.
- File, sand, grind, or otherwise finish welded components to meet quality requirements.
- Replace worn machine accessories, cutting tools, brushes, or other components as needed and as authorized.
- Maintain accurate part counts throughout the production process.
- Properly label or tag completed part containers with required customer, part number, quantity, shop order, or other production information.
- Monitor finished parts for defects, inconsistencies, or conditions that could affect quality.
- Immediately report defective materials, equipment problems, or questionable conditions to the appropriate supervisor or manager.
- Perform prescribed preventive maintenance and routine equipment checks.
- Use welding equipment, tools, and supplies in accordance with established operating standards.
- Maintain company standards for quality, efficiency, productivity, and workmanship.
- Keep the welding area, equipment, tools, and workstations clean and organized.
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and required PPE standards.
- Work cooperatively with coworkers, supervisors, quality personnel, maintenance, and other departments.
- Be willing to work at different workstations or perform related duties as production requirements change.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Safety Responsibilities

- Wear required PPE, including appropriate eye, face, hand, hearing, and protective equipment.
- Properly operate welding machines, grinders, hoists, fixtures, and other equipment only after receiving appropriate training.
- Maintain awareness of hot materials, sparks, fumes, moving equipment, and other potential workplace hazards.
- Keep work areas free of unnecessary hazards, debris, and obstructions.
- Report unsafe conditions, damaged equipment, or other safety concerns immediately.
- Follow proper procedures for handling and moving heavy or hot components.
Quality Responsibilities
The Welder / Robotic Welding Operator is responsible for producing work that consistently meets established quality requirements.
- Follow blueprints, welding symbols, specifications, and work instructions accurately.
- Verify proper part positioning, fit-up, dimensions, and weld placement.
- Perform required operator inspections throughout production.
- Identify weld defects and other quality issues promptly.
- Make appropriate adjustments to equipment or processes when authorized.
- Do not knowingly pass defective parts to the next operation.
- Maintain accurate counts and production documentation.
- Take pride in producing clean, consistent, and professional welds.
Equipment and Tools
Employees may be required to operate and maintain a variety of welding and manufacturing equipment, including:
- MIG welding equipment
- TIG welding equipment
- Robotic welding systems
- Welding fixtures and clamps
- Hoists and material-handling equipment
- Portable grinders
- Hand files and scrapers
- Power chippers
- Sanders and other finishing equipment
- Measuring gauges and inspection tools
- Other hand and power tools used in the welding process
Employees are expected to use equipment properly, perform routine checks, and report maintenance concerns promptly.
Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Previous welding or manufacturing experience is preferred.
- Ability to successfully complete an internal welding skills test.
- Basic knowledge of welding equipment, tools, materials, and processes.
- Basic math skills.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, safety rules, operating instructions, maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and quality documentation.
- Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers, supervisors, and other members of the production team.
- Dependable attendance and punctuality.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to work safely and effectively in a production environment.
Preferred
- One or more years of welding experience.
- Certificate, technical diploma, or degree in welding or a related field.
- Experience with robotic welding systems.
- FANUC robotic welding certification.
- Experience setting up or adjusting robotic welding equipment.
- Experience with MIG and TIG welding.
- Experience reading and interpreting detailed manufacturing drawings and welding symbols.
- Previous experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
Physical Requirements
This position may require employees to:
- Stand and walk for extended periods.
- Frequently use hands and arms to weld, grind, clamp, position, and manipulate materials.
- Lift, carry, push, or pull materials and components using proper techniques and available material-handling equipment.
- Bend, stoop, reach, kneel, and work in various positions.
- Work around hot metal, welding sparks, fumes, noise, and manufacturing equipment.
- Wear required PPE for extended periods.
- Perform repetitive movements while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
Work Environment
The position is performed in a
climate-controlled welding and manufacturing environment. Employees may work around welding equipment, robotic machinery, grinders, hoists, metal components, sparks, heat, fumes, and elevated noise levels.
All employees are expected to follow established safety procedures and use required PPE to maintain a safe work environment.
