Position Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Middle School Special Education Teacher for an immediate-start contract role with a partner district in Gilbert, Arizona. This position leads a Functional Academic / SCILLS (Self-Contained Intensive Language & Life Skills) classroom for middle school students who are cognitively low. This is a highly supported setting with a low caseload and dedicated paraprofessional support, where behaviors and aggression are generally minimal.
Position Highlights
Grade Levels: Middle School (6th-8th Grade)
Caseload Size: Small, focused caseload of 10 students
Classroom Support: Dedicated Paraprofessional support in the classroom
Key Responsibilities
Deliver tailored functional academic and life-skills instruction designed for low-cognitive learners.
Manage, write, and track progress for Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for a manageable caseload of 10 students.
Direct and collaborate with classroom paraprofessionals to ensure structured, daily support and a safe learning environment.
Foster a positive, structured classroom culture focused on functional communication, independence, and basic academic growth.
Collaborate closely with parents, therapy support teams, and school administration.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education: Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field.
Certification: Valid Arizona Special Education Teaching Certificate (Cross-Categorical, Mild/Moderate, or Moderate/Severe).
Clearance: Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
Endorsements: Structured English Immersion (SEI) endorsement.
Availability: Ready to begin onboarding immediately upon clearance.
