ABOUT US

The Major Bridges P3 Initiative is part of the PennDOT Pathways Program, which is designed to bolster PennDOTs ongoing effort to address the states growing backlog of replacement and rehabilitation needs for major bridges that are approaching the end of their useful life. By allowing for the use of a P3 delivery model, PennDOT will be able to replace or rehabilitate major bridges around the state more quickly, achieve significant savings for taxpayers, and minimize the impact on the traveling public.

The purpose of the Pennsylvania Major Bridges Project is to deliver infrastructure improvements focusing on the rehabilitation and replacement of nine major bridges (and associated roadways) across the Commonwealth. Upon completion, it is estimated to be over $2B.

The Bridging Pennsylvania Constructors team is led jointly by S&B USA Construction and FCC. The consortium members have a 20-year-long track record of successful project delivery with PennDOT, having worked in all PennDOT districts.

POSITION SUMMARY

Assist the Project Manager to ensure that the project is built safely in accordance with design, budget, and schedule. Build effective relationships with the work team, with the customer, subcontractors, and vendors. Problem solves focus. Help the Project Manager with their proposed improvement plans.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

To have full knowledge of the scope of work, duties, and responsibilities, established on the BPC DB Contract and the Subcontractors Subcontracts.
Support the PM and Sr. PM in the change orders, quotations, and claims.
Assist in preparing project status reports and participating in project status meetings; assist in the development of meeting minutes.
Ensure the Subcontractors (or Providers) are executing the work according to the Scope, plans and Specifications defined in their Subcontract (or Purchase Order).
Verify the received invoices are based on the Work actually performed by the Subcontractors (or Providers) and confirm the received Work (or supply) meets the required specifications. Ensure the required invoice supporting documents are submitted.
Verify the work progress of the subcontractors.
Assist and monitor the performance of Construction Inspection.
Assist the PM in the payment/invoice process.
Attend Schedule Meetings and control the Subcontractor Work progress.
Oversee construction and complete the daily construction report with detailed and accurate records.
Oversee testing activities and reviewing of test reports for assigned activities.
Oversee non-conformance reporting and support resolution of those reports.
Perform inspections (may include NDE) and witness tests as the work occurs and is deemed complete.
Prepare reports and quality records in compliance with the project specifications.
Perform additional assignments per Project Manager

EDUCATION, SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

BS in civil engineering preferred
At least 5 years experience as a field engineer and/or project engineer with progression up through more complex projects.
Experience with field survey software and equipment.
Experience reading and understanding construction drawings. Writing and reviewing RFIs and reviewing construction Submittals.
Large Alternate delivery project experience preferred.
Computer literacy required including Microsoft Office.
Valid Driver's License

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Must be able to remain in a stationary position for long periods.
Requires driving occasionally for up to 2-5 hours.
Requires working in outdoor weather conditions.
Minimum physical exertion such as walking, lifting, standing for long periods, bending, or reaching may be required.
Requires visual ability to perform tasks: preparing and analyzing data, plans, drawings, outlines, viewing a computer, and extensive reading.
Requires the ability to physically operate standard office equipment i.e., laptop, phone, keyboard, mouse, etc.
