Position Summary
A Director of Human Resources for a multi-state tech startup leads talent strategy, compliance, and culture across multiple locations. Key duties include managing multi-state labor laws, scaling remote and hybrid teams, designing competitive compensation packages, and building scalable HR infrastructure during rapid growth.
Essential Job Functions and Core Responsibilities:
Multi-State Compliance: Track and follow employment laws, tax rules, and benefit regulations for every state where employees live and work.
Talent Acquisition: Build hiring pipelines for tech and business roles while scaling recruitment across different geographic regions.
Compensation and Benefits: Design competitive pay structures, health plans, and perks that attract top talent in various regional markets.
Employee Relations: Handle performance management, conflict resolution, and employee engagement to maintain a strong company culture remotely or in offices.
HR Operations: Implement HR software, data tracking systems, and company policies that fit a growing organization.
Qualifications:
Experience: 8+ years in human resources, with at least 5 years managing HR in a multi-state, coast to coast, and remote startup environment.
Knowledge: Deep understanding of multi-state employment regulations, payroll, and benefits administration.
Skills: Strong leadership, data analysis, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Education: Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field; SHRM-SCP or SPHR certification is nice-to-have.
Compensation and Benefits
140,000 - 175,000 Benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with match, PTO, certification and training reimbursement, paid Cisco exam vouchers.
