Job Description

Job Description: Job Summary
The Training Specialist plays a hands-on role in how Sam The Concrete Man onboards, trains, and develops its people. This role blends real instructional design work - identifying training gaps, building curriculum, and creating the materials that make training stick - with the on-the-ground execution that keeps every training class running smoothly, from the LMS to the classroom itself. It's an entry-level position with real ownership: this person will help shape how our people learn, not just support the people who do.

Key Responsibilities
Learning Design & Development

Help identify gaps in current training and translate them into clear, measurable learning objectives tied to real outcomes (safety, quality, customer experience).
Partner with leadership, experienced team leads, and subject-matter experts to gather input on training content and the best way to teach it.
Help design training that blends formats - hands-on/job-site demonstration, instructor-led classroom sessions, and self-paced materials - based on what the content calls for.
Build structured curriculum and simple certification checkpoints for new-owner onboarding and ongoing crew training, applying basic adult-learning principles.
Create supporting materials that reinforce key concepts: presentations, job aids, quizzes, checklists, short videos, and role-play scenarios.
Turn existing know-how - from team leads, past training materials, and field procedures - into clear, usable training content.
Help build simple ways to measure whether training worked (quizzes, skills checklists, certification sign-off), and update materials based on the results.
Keep training records, materials, and documentation organized and current in the LMS.

Training Delivery & Logistics

Assist leadership with new-owner onboarding from orientation through the first weeks on the job.
Administer the company's Learning Management System (LMS): building out courses, assigning training, and tracking completion records.
Prepare and set up the training classroom whenever trainees are in town, including materials, seating, and equipment.
Order and manage supplies needed for each training class, and coordinate catering for training sessions.
Assemble welcome packages and training books/manuals for incoming Franchise Business Owners.
Take on additional onboarding and training-support tasks as needed - this is a hands-on role in a small, fast-moving company where everyone wears multiple hats.

This description reflects the general nature of the role and is not an exhaustive list of duties. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as the training function grows.

Qualifications

1-3 years of experience in training, instructional design, education, or a related field - coursework, internships, or on-the-job exposure all count.
Working knowledge of instructional design fundamentals and adult learning theory; formal training is a plus, but a willingness to learn quickly is required.
Familiarity with a Learning Management System (LMS), including course setup and completion tracking. Knowledge of Tovuti is a bonus!
Comfort building training materials in common tools (PowerPoint, Canva, or similar); experience with e-learning authoring tools (e.g., Articulate, Adobe Creative Cloud) is a plus, not a requirement.
Strong written and verbal communication skills - able to turn technical, how-to knowledge into training content that's clear and easy to follow.
Highly organized, with the ability to manage instructional design work and hands-on logistics (supplies, catering, room setup) side by side.
A hands-on, whatever-it-takes work ethic - a true grinder who is comfortable wearing multiple hats and never says "that's not my job."
Curiosity about new tools and methods, including AI-assisted content creation, is a plus.
Willingness to travel occasionally as training needs require.

Bonus

Bachelors degree in instructional design, education, or a related field.
Familiarity of the construction industry and project management and estimation.

Physical Requirements
Ability to set up and break down classroom furniture, training equipment, and materials, and to lift and carry supplies and welcome-package materials (up to approximately 30-40 lbs).
Culture Fit
Sam The Concrete Man is built on Integrity, Respect, Accountability, Communication, Balance, and Grit. We're looking for a Training Specialist who lives these values day to day - someone positive, dependable, eager to grow their instructional design skills, and genuinely invested in setting our people up to succeed from day one.
