Job DescriptionSalary RangeThe expected base rate for this Glens Falls, New York, United States-based position is $22.80 to $34.20 per hour. As a Medical Staff Coordinator, you will take ownership of this vital process. How You Will Fulfill Your Potential (
Responsibilities)You will be the central point of contact for our Medical and Dental staff when it comes to their credentials. By keeping applications and renewals moving smoothly, you make sure the hospital stays compliant with federal, state, and internal rules.
Key Responsibilities:- Handle Applications: Process all initial applications and routine reappointments for medical and allied health staff.
- Track Expirations: Keep an eye on licenses, insurance, and other documents that expire between regular renewal cycles so nothing lapses.
- Manage Bi-Annual Renewals: Send out timely reminders to medical and allied health staff for their two-year reappointment applications, then collect and process their documentation.
- Support Medical Staff Meetings: Help the Medical Staff organization by setting up documents and taking accurate minutes during meetings.
- Provide Verified Reports: Respond quickly and accurately to database inquiries from internal healthcare teams and external credentialing bodies (like HMOs and other hospitals).
- Coordinate Health Clearances: Work closely with the Employee Health department to guarantee full compliance with New York State Department of Health (NYS DOH) medical clearance rules.
- Maintain Data & Peer Reviews: Keep our credentialing database 100% complete and accurate. You will work alongside the Manager to build quality provider profiles while maintaining strict confidentiality on peer reviews and quality issues.
- Track Performance Evaluations: Initiate and ensure timely follow-ups for Focused Professional Practice Evaluations (FPPE).
- Update the Physician Directory: Help build and maintain an accurate, online provider directory so practice details reflect current information.
- Manage Dues: Coordinate, distribute, and record Medical Staff dues, processing any supporting requests that come in.
- Assist with Recognition Events: Work with the rest of the department to plan and run annual staff recognition events, including handling communications and refreshments.
Qualifications We Are Looking For:Education & Certifications:- High School Diploma required (Associate or Bachelor's degree is a plus).
- Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) certification is preferred.
Experience & Skills:- Required Experience: 1 to 2 years of direct experience with medical credentialing and privileging.
- Healthcare Knowledge: A solid understanding of medical terminology and hospital environments.
- Tech Skills: Comfortable using Microsoft Office, working with databases, and navigating online portal applications.
- Work Style: Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage a lot of moving parts accurately without needing constant supervision.
