Job DescriptionWe are seeking an Entry-Level Substation Drafter to support electrical substation design projects. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career drafter looking to build experience within the power and utilities industry while working alongside experienced Project Managers and Engineers. The Substation Drafter will create and update technical drawings, follow client-specific CAD standards, and support multiple substation projects simultaneously. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, detail-oriented, receptive to feedback, and eager to learn and develop their drafting skills.
Job Responsibilities
  • Perform CAD drafting for electrical substation projects
  • Create new drawings and modify existing drawings based on project requirements
  • Follow client-specific CAD standards, document control procedures, and industry standards
  • Maintain accurate, high-quality drawings and documentation
  • Support multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
  • Work closely with Project Managers and Engineers
  • Participate in project meetings to establish drafting schedules and requirements
  • Attend occasional site visits, training sessions, and seminars
  • Assist with resolving non-standard drafting and design issues
Qualifications
  • 0-3 years of drafting/design experience
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Associate degree in Drafting, Engineering Design Technology, or a related discipline preferred
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, and/or MicroStation preferred
  • Exposure to Autodesk Inventor is a plus
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to maintain accuracy and attention to detail
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work effectively with others
  • Strong personality, coachable mindset, and willingness to learn in a direct, fast-paced team environment
  • Ability to learn new software, standards, and processes quickly
Schedule: Hybrid - 3 days per week in office
