HR Assistant
Location: Downtown Kansas City, MO
Pay: $27/hour
Job Type: Contract-to-Hire
Work Authorization: Green Card Required
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM


Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented HR Assistant to join our team in Downtown Kansas City. This contract-to-hire opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys supporting employees, managing administrative processes, and providing excellent customer service. The HR Assistant will support daily HR operations, workers' compensation administration, FMLA tracking, pension updates, and front desk responsibilities.


Responsibilities

Reception & Administrative Support



  • Answer and direct incoming switchboard calls

  • Greet and assist employees, visitors, and community members at the front desk

  • Complete employment verification requests

  • Collect and distribute office mail from the mailroom

  • Provide general administrative support as needed


FMLA Administration



  • Create and maintain employee FMLA files

  • Organize FMLA documentation by year

  • Update and maintain FMLA tracking logs


Workers' Compensation



  • Enter injury reports into HealthTech (TPA online system)

  • Maintain Workers' Compensation injury tracking spreadsheets

  • Create and organize employee workers' compensation files

  • Submit injury reports to the Third-Party Administrator (TPA)

  • Monitor Concentra HUB daily for injury activity updates

  • Review work restrictions and notify management of any restrictions

  • Process workers' compensation account reimbursements and submit to Finance


Pension Administration




  • Review weekly Pension Benefit Information (PBI) notifications




  • Update pension records with address changes




  • Notify management of pension death notices




  • Maintain and file pension records accurately




  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned




Qualifications

  • Previous administrative, HR Assistant, receptionist, or office support experience preferred

  • Strong customer service and communication skills

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Ability to handle confidential information professionally

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment
