What You'll Do As a Secondary Teacher, you will: Instruction & Student LearningDevelop and deliver engaging lesson plans aligned with district curriculum and Texas Education Agency standardsUse a variety of instructional strategies and technologies to meet diverse learning needsAdapt instructional materials and teaching methods to support all learnersAssess student progress through formal and informal methods and provide timely feedbackPrepare, administer, and grade tests and assignmentsMaintain accurate attendance and grade records Classroom Environment & Student SupportCreate a positive, structured classroom environment that supports learning and growthEstablish and consistently apply fair classroom expectations and discipline practicesEncourage strong study habits and enthusiasm for learningTeach appropriate conduct, social skills, and responsible behaviorCounsel students with academic or behavioral concerns and refer to support staff when needed Communication & CollaborationCommunicate student progress and concerns with parents/guardiansMaintain professional relationships with students, families, colleagues, and community membersCollaborate with staff to support school and district initiativesParticipate in staff, department, and committee meetings Professional ResponsibilitiesParticipate in ongoing professional development and trainingStay current in subject knowledge and instructional best practicesSupport extracurricular and campus activities as assignedModel professionalism, ethical conduct, and district valuesMaintain reliable attendance and preparedness, including substitute plans when absent Campus & Operational SupportSupervise educational aides and volunteers as assignedSafeguard students, materials, equipment, and facilitiesAssist with selection of instructional materials and resourcesCoordinate field trips and student activities Physical Education Teachers (If Applicable) PE Teachers will also:Develop programs that promote physical fitness and social developmentTeach individual and team sports, fitness, and movement skillsLead and officiate indoor and outdoor activitiesInstruct calisthenics, gymnastics, weight training, and corrective exercisesManage and maintain PE equipment and facilities Qualifications RequiredBachelor's DegreeValid Texas Teaching Certificate Preferred SkillsStrong classroom management and instructional planningEffective written and verbal communicationAbility to engage diverse student populationsProficiency with instructional technology Work Environment & Physical RequirementsRegular standing, walking, and classroom mobilityFrequent computer and instructional technology useLight to moderate lifting and carryingOccasional travel between district campusesAbility to work effectively in a fast-paced school environment with frequent interruptions Why Killeen ISD?Supportive campus leadershipCollaborative teaching cultureOpportunities for professional growthMeaningful impact on students and community This posting describes the general responsibilities of the role and is not an exhaustive list of duties.
