The YMCA of the Roses in York is seeking enthusiastic Swim Instructors to teach essential water safety and swimming skills to participants of all ages. In this role, you will lead group and private lessons in a safe, supportive environment while helping swimmers build confidence and develop lifelong skills in the 're looking for individuals who are energetic, patient, and passionate about teaching and water safety. We are determined: above all else, we are on a relentless quest to make our community stronger beginning with you.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Instructs swimming lessons as assigned in accordance with YMCA guidelines, following lesson plans provided for each class level.Develops and maintains positive relationships with program participants and parents/caregivers while supporting them in achieving their goals.Relays information regarding participants' progress as well as other programs to parents/caregivers, when appropriate, while maintaining a friendly and warm atmosphere.Maintains records as required (e.g., attendance, parent handbooks, certificates).Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary.Attends staff meetings and in-service trainings when requested. LEADERSHIP COMPETENCIES:CollaborationDeveloping Self & OthersInclusion QUALIFICATIONS:Swim Instructor IMust have or obtain CPR Pro and First Aid certification Obtain a state police clearance, a child abuse clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.Obtain Mandated Reporter Clearance. Swim Instructor IIMust have or obtain CPR Pro and First Aid certification Obtain a state police clearance, a child abuse clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.Obtain Mandated Reporter Clearance. High School Diploma3 years teaching swim lessons experience OR completion of YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor (YSLI) Training. Swim Instructor IIIMust have or obtain CPR Pro and First Aid certification Obtain a state police clearance, a child abuse clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.Obtain Mandated Reporter Clearance. High School DiplomaMeet all requirements for Level II5 years of experience teaching swim lessons3 years of experience supervising a staff teamWORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
