Patriot Truss & Components is looking for a Lumber Buyer. The ideal candidate understands lumber markets, grades, and species specific to truss production and can balance cost control with production needs.
Responsibilities:
- Purchase lumber and truss-related materials to support production schedules and inventory requirements
- Source and negotiate with lumber mills, wholesalers, and vendors to secure competitive pricing and reliable supply
- Monitor lumber markets, pricing trends, and availability to make informed buying decisions
- Collaborate with truss designers, production managers, and yard staff on material requirements and substitutions
- Maintain accurate purchasing records
Requirements
- The minimum work week to consist of Monday-Friday.
- Normal hours 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM
- Additional hours may be required at times to meet deadlines
- Knowledge of basic building concepts and math calculations
- Experience in purchasing, construction, or lumber/building supply industry
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents
