Job Description
Job Description: Brand Content Lead
Full-time Remote Pacific Time preferred
Before applying, please spend a few minutes with our world:
Marmalade Grove is a premium food and lifestyle brand rooted in our family citrus grove in Ojai, California.
We grow distinctive citrus and turn it into marmalades, fruit spreads, fresh fruit programs, gifts, and hospitality products. But the larger ambition is to build a recognizable world around Ojai, California agriculture, food, design, travel, hospitality, and the rituals surrounding how people eat.
We are looking for a highly organized, culturally aware Brand Content Lead to own the editorial and promotional calendar across the company.
This is not simply a social media posting role.
This person will sit at the center of our marketing operation and answer five questions every day:
What are we saying? Why are we saying it? When are we saying it? What creative supports it? And how does that idea translate consistently across every customer touchpoint?
The Role
You will build and maintain a rolling 12-month brand, editorial, and campaign calendar covering:
Seasonal storytelling
Harvests and agricultural moments
Product launches
Promotions
Retail announcements
Hospitality partnerships
Recipes
Founder stories
Press
Events
Creator activity
Behind-the-scenes content
Educational storytelling
Cultural moments that genuinely make sense for the brand
From that central calendar, you will coordinate how campaigns appear across:
Instagram
TikTok and emerging social platforms
Email
Paid advertising
Website
Creator seeding
PR
Retail and wholesale marketing
The goal is one coherent brand conversation-not separate teams inventing unrelated campaigns.
Social Media
Social will be the most important day-to-day channel you own.
You will:
Build weekly and monthly social calendars
Develop recurring editorial franchises and campaign concepts
Select imagery and video from our existing content library
Write and edit captions
Determine cadence, sequencing, and storytelling
Coordinate Reels, Stories, carousels, still photography, founder content, UGC, and announcements
Schedule and publish approved content
Maintain a coherent visual rhythm across the account
Monitor performance and identify what deserves more investment
Understand trends without allowing the brand to become trend-driven
We already produce significant original photography and video.
You are not expected to personally shoot every piece of content.
Your job is to understand what content the brand needs, identify gaps, brief shoots intelligently, and make sure the resulting work actually gets used.
Campaign & Content Strategy
You will:
Translate company priorities into compelling editorial themes
Plan campaign arcs before launches happen
Balance product-selling content with storytelling, education, recipes, farming, people, travel, hospitality, and beautiful brand imagery
Develop concepts that build long-term brand equity rather than relying on constant promotions
Identify gaps in our photography and video library
Create briefs and shot lists for future production
Build systems that allow us to plan months ahead while remaining culturally relevant
Cross-Channel Coordination
You will work closely with our:
Founder / Creative Director
Content Producer / Digital Asset Manager
Photographer and video collaborators
Email marketing team
Paid advertising team
Customer Relations / Creator Manager
Graphic designers
Website team
Sales and wholesale teams
For an important campaign, there should be one central idea and one central calendar.
The email team should not be inventing an unrelated promotion.
The advertising team should not be searching randomly for creative.
Creator activity should reinforce the same story customers are seeing through social, email, retail, and the website.
You will create that alignment.
Working With the Founder
Our founder is deeply involved in photography, creative direction, product development, and company strategy.
An important objective of this role is to protect the founder's creative time.
We want the founder focused on:
Photography
Major campaign concepts
Product development
Brand strategy
Reviewing important creative
-not building posting calendars, resizing assets, tracking down files, or deciding what needs to be posted tomorrow.
You should arrive with organized recommendations and decisions ready for approval.
Who We're Looking For
You have excellent taste and understand how premium brands create desire.
Relevant backgrounds may include:
Food and beverage
Fashion
Beauty
Hospitality
Travel
Luxury consumer brands
Editorial media
Design-driven startups
Premium CPG
You are both strategic and unusually organized.
You can think twelve months ahead while still knowing exactly what needs to happen next Tuesday.
You have:
Strong social media and content strategy experience
Excellent writing and editing skills
Strong visual judgment
Experience planning campaigns rather than simply posting content
Experience coordinating photographers, designers, editors, creators, or agencies
Strong project-management skills
Comfort using performance data to improve creative decisions
An understanding of how social, email, paid media, website, PR, and retail can reinforce one another
Experience with food, hospitality, agriculture, or premium consumer brands is valuable, but exceptional taste, judgment, and organization matter more than having worked in a kitchen.
Our Creative Standard
We are not interested in building a content strategy around:
Generic social templates
Constant discounting
Engagement bait
Random memes
Chasing every trend
Posting simply to hit a volume target
We are interested in creating:
desire, identity, consistency, storytelling, and cultural relevance over time.
The strongest candidate will understand the difference.

Upcoming company priorities
Product and harvest calendar

We will ask you to build a sample 30-day content calendar and explain how you would evolve it into a 12-month brand system.

A short explanation of how you would approach your first 90 days at Marmalade Grove
