SigTel is building a pre-qualified talent pool of experienced low-voltage telecommunications technicians in advance of anticipated DoD and federal government contract awards. Technicians selected for this pool will be contacted directly as opportunities become available. We welcome both prospective direct employees (W-2) and independent subcontractors (1099) to register their interest.
About SigTel Inc.
SigTel is a Newport Beach, California-based Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) specializing in telecommunications and electrical infrastructure contracting for DoD and military customers. We are an active subcontractor on current government contracts and are expanding our capacity to pursue and perform a larger volume of contracts concurrently. Our technicians operate on military installations and government facilities throughout Southern California, and we accept and pursue work statewide, with active evaluation underway for contract opportunities beyond California.
The Work
SigTel technicians perform inside-plant (ISP) and outside-plant (OSP) low-voltage telecommunications installation and maintenance in support of DoD and federal government network infrastructure. Work includes, but is not limited to:
Underground fiber optic cable installation, pulling, and routing through conduit and innerduct
Single-mode and multimode fiber optic fusion splicing and termination
OTDR testing, optical power/loss measurement (power meter and light source), and fiber certification
Structured copper cabling installation and termination-CAT5e, CAT6, CAT6a (UTP and STP)
Coaxial cable installation and termination (RG6 and equivalent)
Conduit installation (EMT, rigid, PVC, innerduct) and cable tray routing
Patch panel, rack, and cable management installation in IDF/MDF environments
Bonding and grounding of telecommunications systems per applicable standards
Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, OSP/ISP schematics, splicing matrices, and cable schedules
As-built and redline drawing documentation
Troubleshooting and testing using OTDRs, Fluke/DTX testers, tone generators, and related instrumentation
Working Conditions
SigTel's work takes place in a variety of demanding environments. Candidates must be prepared to work:
Underground in vaults, manholes, and confined spaces
At elevation on bucket trucks, aerial lifts, ladders, and other elevated work surfaces
Outdoors in all weather conditions, including sustained extreme heat, cold, and wet environments
On active U.S. military installations, including restricted areas subject to additional access requirements and protocols
In remote and austere locations with limited support infrastructure
For extended durations requiring sustained standing, kneeling, bending, and work in confined or restricted positions
This role requires the ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. and to operate vehicles on and off military installations. A valid driver's license with a clean driving record is required; CDL or aerial lift certification is a plus.
Geographic Scope
The majority of SigTel's current work is concentrated in San Diego County and the greater Southern California region. We accept contracts throughout California and are actively evaluating opportunities in additional states. We prefer candidates willing to work statewide; those open to future multi-state deployment are strongly encouraged.
Qualifications
Required:
3-5+ years of hands-on experience in low-voltage telecommunications installation, with demonstrated ISP and/or OSP proficiency
Demonstrated experience with fiber optic cable installation, fusion splicing, and termination
Demonstrated experience with structured copper cabling installation and termination (CAT5e/CAT6/CAT6a)
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and telecommunications schematics
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
U.S. citizenship (required for security clearance eligibility)
Demonstrate eligibility and willingness to obtain and maintain an active DoD SECRET security clearance
Preferred:
BICSI Installer 2 certification (Copper and/or Fiber)
OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
Fiber Optic Association (FOA) CFOT certification or equivalent
CDL or aerial lift/bucket truck operator certification
Prior experience working on DoD or federal government installation projects
Familiarity with TIA/EIA, BICSI, and applicable DoD telecommunications standards and guidelines
Possess an active DoD SECRET security clearance
Security Clearance Requirement
All SigTel work is performed on or in direct support of U.S. military installations. Candidates must either hold an active DoD SECRET security clearance or be eligible and prepared to obtain and maintain one. As our contract portfolio grows, future opportunities may require access above the Secret level. Candidates who do not currently hold an active clearance but have a prior investigation history-including military service, federal employment, or a previously held clearance-are encouraged to reach out and discuss eligibility.
