Location: Aurora, Colorado
Compensation: $24.00 per hour

Journey to Serenity Counseling is seeking a compassionate, dependable Child Youth Mentor to provide individualized mentorship and skill-building support to children and adolescents with autism, developmental disabilities, and other support needs.
The Child Youth Mentor will work directly with youth in the home and community, helping them strengthen social skills, emotional regulation, communication, independence, and positive community involvement. This is a meaningful opportunity for someone who enjoys working with young people and wants to make a lasting difference in the lives of youth and families.Responsibilities
Build a safe, consistent, and trusting mentoring relationship with each youth.
Provide individualized support based on the youth's goals, strengths, interests, and identified needs.
Plan and participate in engaging, age-appropriate activities that promote social-emotional development, communication, independence, and life skills.
Help youth practice appropriate social interactions and safely access community activities.
Model healthy boundaries, respectful communication, problem-solving, and positive coping skills.
Use positive behavioral supports to encourage emotional regulation and appropriate behavior.
Support youth during challenging situations while following established safety and crisis plans.
Communicate professionally with parents, caregivers, and the youth's care team as appropriate.
Complete accurate and timely progress notes, service documentation, and timesheets.
Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and all applicable program requirements.
Immediately report safety concerns, suspected abuse or neglect, and significant incidents according to agency and state requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED.
At least 18 years of age.
Experience working with children or adolescents with autism, developmental disabilities, behavioral needs, or other disabilities.
Ability to build positive relationships while maintaining professional boundaries.
Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills.
Dependable, patient, compassionate, and able to remain calm during challenging situations.
Ability to work independently and follow individualized service and safety plans.
Reliable transportation and the ability to travel to services in Aurora and surrounding areas.
Access to a smartphone or computer for communication and electronic documentation.
Basic documentation and time-management skills, with comfort using digital tools for scheduling, communication, service documentation, and reporting.
Ability to successfully complete all required background checks and onboarding requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in child care, special education, behavioral health, respite care, direct support, mentoring, or community-based disability services.
Knowledge of autism, intellectual or developmental disabilities, trauma-informed care, and positive behavioral supports.
CPR and First Aid certification.
Bilingual skills are a plus.
Schedule
Contract opportunities may include afternoons, evenings, and weekends depending on youth and family needs. Availability will be discussed before accepting an assignment.Compensation and Contractor Status
$24.00 per hour.
This is a 1099 independent-contractor opportunity.
Independent contractors are responsible for their own taxes, insurance, transportation expenses, and other business-related obligations.
Hours are based on available client assignments and are not guaranteed.
Employee benefits are not provided for this contractor position.
