CAD Technician:

The CAD Technician will join our local team members in-office in Irondequoit, NY where they will use SOLIDWORKS to assist in creation, lifecycle management, and organization of 3D models, drawings, assemblies, and other assets. Scope of work primarily consists of proprietary parts used in our solar combiner and disconnect enclosures, along with parts provided from vendors. This person will work closely with the CTO/engineer and senior CAD technician to ensure precision, fit, compatibility, and functionality. The CAD Technician will also be responsible for preparing thorough and clear instructions and support information for other assets, based on feedback from the engineer.


Responsibilities:

  • Drafting 3D parts in SOLIDWORKS from engineering drawings and modifying part design from redlines • Creating mostly static assemblies using a mix of drafted parts and models available from vendors • Checking fit and possible interference of parts within an assembly
  • Creating engineering drawings of parts and assemblies for manufacturing and assembly processes, as well as other assets such as work instructions, etc., with feedback from the engineer, and consistent with standardized formatting
  • Using Bill of Materials to determine parts needed for assemblies
  • Occasional creation of 3D models for vendor parts from available 2D drawings or from measurement of physical parts
  • Maintaining a parts library
  • Other duties as deemed necessary by manager, such as assistance with physical assembly, product testing, etc.

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of SOLIDWORKS experience
  • Experience in Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Strong mathematical and reasoning skills
  • Ability to multi-task while managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Maintains high-level accuracy and consistency in all deliverables
  • Ability to problem-solve and follow logical reasoning
  • Clear, consistent communication skills
  • In-person presence Mondays through Fridays, with core shift from 9:30am to 3pm and exact daily start and end times flexible
