The CAD Technician is responsible for developing project-specific details and preparing and coordinating construction working drawings. The CAD Technician coordinates customer design details and incorporates this information into bid sets and permit/construction drawings. The CAD Technician consults with the Senior Designer, customer liaisons, consultants, and/or customers while preparing and presenting drawings.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Obtains specifications and other project information required to properly prepare working drawings, which may include visiting job sites.
2. Prepares conceptual plan designs in CAD based on input provided during the Design Development / Concept Phase.
3. Operates computer-aided drafting (CAD) software to produce requested designs, drawings, working drawings, charts, forms, and related documentation.
4. Creates markups and redlines to accompany drawings and demonstrates the ability to resolve isolated design issues.
5. Understands building codes, community requirements, space and site requirements, and other technical conditions that impact construction working drawings.
6. Coordinates with outside drafting consultants or subcontracted drafting resources when additional assistance is required.
7. Provides completed plan modifications in compliance with requested changes to the home design.
8. Reviews and coordinates consultant drawings and specifications with the construction document set.
9. Performs drawing coordination and quality-control reviews to identify dimensional conflicts, missing information, inconsistencies between architectural and consultant documents, and potential construction issues prior to issuance.

Qualifications
1. Degree, diploma, or technical certification in CAD, drafting, architecture, construction technology, or a related field preferred.
2. Minimum of 3-4 years of experience in CAD drafting/design, residential construction documentation, building construction, or a related field.
3. Working knowledge of residential construction methods, field conditions, and construction techniques.
4. Experience with 3D CAD drafting and modeling software, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
5. Understanding of and familiarity with community design guidelines and architectural review requirements.
6. Ability to provide samples of completed construction documents or working drawings for review.
7. Honesty, integrity, and a strong desire to succeed.
8. Ability to create and maintain cooperative, team-building relationships.
9. Ability to meet deadlines and work effectively under pressure.
