The Automotive Technician / Automotive Mechanic specializes in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of vehicles, including passenger cars, light trucks, and heavy-duty trucks. Working within a small team of 2-5 professionals, this role requires hands-on expertise with manufacturer-specific and generic diagnostic tools, as well as advanced software simulations. The technician ensures vehicle safety and performance through routine maintenance, thorough inspections, and effective customer communication. Occasional local travel may be necessary, and background checks and drug tests are mandatory for all candidates. There is strong potential for career advancement to a lead technician position.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose vehicle issues using manufacturer-specific scanners and OBD-II tools
- Perform engine repairs and routine maintenance on a range of vehicles
- Inspect and repair brake and electrical systems
- Conduct safety inspections and replace worn or faulty parts
- Use manual and advanced software simulation tools for troubleshooting
- Maintain accurate service records and documentation
- Communicate clearly with customers regarding repairs and maintenance
- Collaborate effectively within a small team environment
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years experience in automotive repair
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid Driver's License
- Proficiency in engine diagnostics, brake repair, and electrical troubleshooting
- Knowledge of hydraulic systems and diagnostic tools
- Strong technical documentation and customer service skills
- Excellent problem solving and attention to detail
