Job Description
Job Duties: Perform computer simulations of complex utility scale solar energy systems to estimate energy production Perform computer simulations of battery energy storage system (BESS) operation and performance Participate in preconstruction design and optimization of PV and BESS assets Create data visualizations for graphical representations of solar energy production Document energy estimates and analyze system performance for solar development assets. Create and document technical operational strategy energy estimates for BESS development assets Perform analyses to evaluate uncertainty of existing PV and BESS performance models Develop new and improved models to reduce PV and BESS performance model uncertainty Review performance testing and MET station specification contract documents Assist in technical due-diligence process for potential acquisitions Review technical documents and acceptance test results and validate actual PV and/or BESS performance against base case finance assumptions Support Project Development team and subcontractors to review/optimize project subsystem designs Support development of technical performance contract language for EPC agreements Support discussions with EOR, OE, and IE through project lifecycle Execute performance assessment of operating solar power plants including capacity testing per ASTM 2848 and ASTM 2939 Job Requirements: Education: Masters degree in Energy Systems or a related field. Experience Required: 6 months experience in job offered or as a Technical Risk CoOp or any combination thereof. Must have 6 months experience (can be gained concurrently with experience above) in the following: Drafting Technical Review Memos as part of technical due diligence process for residential solar plus storage projects. Supervising portfolios of wind projects throughout the U.S., making monthly updates in the project database. Reviewed bankability reports drawn up by independent engineers, and prepared reports for the technical team leader. Report findings related to performance, cost and feasibility of battery technologies that include lithium-ion, redox flow and zinc-hybrid batteries.
