Job Description

Location: 495 N Keller Rd., Suite 300, Maitland, FL 32751 Position Title: Transmission Planning Consultant Job Description: Perform advanced power system studies on the Bulk Electric System (BES) transmission network, including power flow, contingency analysis, transient stability, short-circuit, and reactive capability analysis. Evaluate regulatory conditions and system risks in accordance with NERC, FERC, IEEE, and applicable Regional reliability requirements. Independently execute transmission planning studies using industry-standard software tools such as PSSE, PSCAD, and ASPEN. Conduct EMT-based inverter-based resource (IBR) model validation for generator interconnection projects. Utilize data analysis tools, including Python and Power Query, to support study development, automation, and results evaluation. Telecommuting is allowed up to 30 days per year. Primarily Domestic travel up to 15% is required based on project needs. Multiple Positions Available. Job Requirements: Requires a Bachelors degree, in Electrical Engineering, or a directly related field from an ABET accredited program plus three (3) years of electric utility operations, planning, or consulting experience. Must have three (3) years of experience in the following: Experience with at least one of the below: o Transient stability, short circuit, and voltage analysis; o NERC, FERC, and Regional requirements, policies and procedures; o TPL compliance; generator interconnection; EMT IBR model validation; or o Reactive powerflow analysis study. Electric transmission systems and transmission system planning processes. Powerflow simulation software: PSS/E, PSCAD, and ASPEN. Performing EMT IBR model validation. Alternatively, the employer will accept a Masters degree, in Engineering, Computer and Electrical Engineering, or a directly related field from an ABET accredited program plus two (2) years of electric utility operations, planning, or consulting experience in lieu of a Bachelors degree plus three (3) years of described experience. Must have two (2) years of experience in the following: Experience with at least one of the below: o Transient stability, short circuit, and voltage analysis; o NERC, FERC, and Regional requirements, policies and procedures; o TPL compliance; generator interconnection; EMT IBR model validation; or o Reactive powerflow analysis study.
