The Opportunity

Pathology Associates of North Texas is a physician-owned and physician-led pathology practice based in Wichita Falls, Texas. The group currently consists of six full-time pathologists serving a diverse mix of hospital-based and outreach clients throughout north central Texas and southern Oklahoma.


The practice is seeking an experienced, relationship-oriented Practice Administrator to provide leadership and operational support while actively contributing to the continued growth and development of the practice.


This is a key leadership role for an individual who can balance day-to-day practice administration with a strategic, growth-oriented mindset. The Practice Administrator will work closely with ownership to strengthen existing relationships, identify new business opportunities, and represent the group to hospitals, healthcare systems, physician practices, and other organizations that may benefit from the group's pathology and laboratory services.


The ideal candidate is a strong communicator and relationship builder who is comfortable representing a physician-owned practice to healthcare executives, hospital leadership, administrators, clinicians, and potential referral partners. The successful candidate will bring initiative, professionalism, sound business judgment, and the ability to turn opportunities into sustainable, long-term relationships.


About the Practice

Pathology Associates of North Texas provides comprehensive pathology and laboratory services through a combination of hospital-based, outreach, and medical directorship relationships.



  • Approximately 25,000 surgical pathology and cytology cases annually

    • 30% GI

    • 20% Dermatopathology

    • Remainder across GU, GYN, Breast, and other surgical subspecialties



  • Approximately 1,400 non-GYN and FNA cytology cases annually

  • Approximately 7,000 Pap smears annually

  • Broad range of clinical laboratory testing through medical directorship relationships

  • Blend of hospital-based and outreach pathology services

  • No autopsy responsibilities

  • Physician-owned and physician-led organization

  • Established presence throughout north central Texas and southern Oklahoma


Key Responsibilities
Practice Leadership & Administration

  • Partner with ownership to develop and execute the practice's strategic, operational, and growth objectives.

  • Oversee the day-to-day administrative and business operations of the practice.

  • Develop, implement, and monitor policies, procedures, and operational processes that support efficient, high-quality practice performance.

  • Coordinate administrative, financial, staffing, technology, and vendor-related functions.

  • Monitor key practice performance indicators and provide regular reporting and recommendations to physician leadership.

  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, physician satisfaction, client service, and financial performance.

  • Serve as a central point of coordination between physicians, staff, hospitals, laboratories, vendors, and external business partners.


Business Development & Practice Growth

  • Take an active role in expanding the practice's hospital, healthcare system, physician practice, and outreach relationships.

  • Represent Pathology Associates of North Texas to hospitals, health systems, physician groups, medical practices, surgery centers, and other healthcare organizations that could benefit from the group's services.

  • Identify and cultivate prospective client relationships and develop a pipeline of new business opportunities.

  • Meet with hospital and healthcare system executives, administrators, medical staff leaders, physicians, and other decision-makers to understand their pathology and laboratory needs.

  • Develop and present proposals and service offerings tailored to the needs of prospective clients.

  • Coordinate with physician leadership to evaluate new opportunities, develop service models, and support contract negotiations.

  • Maintain strong relationships with existing clients and proactively identify opportunities to expand services.

  • Participate in community and professional activities that increase the visibility and reputation of the practice.

  • Help position the practice for sustainable growth while maintaining its reputation for quality, responsiveness, and physician partnership.


Client & Physician Relations

  • Serve as a professional ambassador for the practice and its ownership.

  • Develop trusted relationships with hospital executives, administrators, physicians, practice managers, and other healthcare leaders.

  • Ensure existing clients receive responsive, professional, and solutions-oriented service.

  • Proactively address client concerns and coordinate appropriate resolution with physician and operational leadership.

  • Support communication between pathologists and referring physicians to strengthen clinical relationships and client satisfaction.

  • Understand the competitive healthcare and pathology landscape and communicate relevant market opportunities to physician leadership.


Financial & Contract Management

  • Work with physician owners and appropriate advisors to develop and manage practice budgets and financial objectives.

  • Monitor revenue, expenses, accounts receivable, and other key financial metrics.

  • Support payer, hospital, and client contract administration and negotiations.

  • Evaluate the financial and operational implications of prospective business opportunities.

  • Coordinate with external accounting, legal, billing, and other professional service providers as appropriate.

  • Identify opportunities to improve financial performance while maintaining high standards of patient care and client service.


Staff & Operational Management

  • Recruit, develop, and retain administrative and support personnel as needed.

  • Establish clear expectations, accountability, and performance standards for non-physician staff.

  • Foster a collaborative, professional, and service-oriented culture.

  • Coordinate staffing, scheduling, facilities, equipment, technology, and other operational resources.

  • Support compliance with applicable healthcare, laboratory, employment, and regulatory requirements.

  • Work with physicians and staff to maintain efficient workflows and high-quality service delivery.


Candidate Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, healthcare administration, finance, or a related field required; advanced degree preferred.

  • 5+ years of progressive healthcare management or practice administration experience, preferably within a physician-owned practice, pathology group, hospital, health system, or related healthcare organization.

  • Demonstrated experience in healthcare business development, client relationship management, or service-line growth strongly preferred.

  • Experience working directly with hospital executives, healthcare systems, physicians, and practice leadership.

  • Strong understanding of healthcare operations, financial management, contracting, and physician practice dynamics.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain senior-level relationships.

  • Strong business development, negotiation, presentation, and communication skills.

  • Highly organized, analytical, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a physician-led environment.

  • Comfortable working independently while collaborating closely with physician owners.

  • Strong professional judgment, integrity, initiative, and interpersonal skills.

  • Familiarity with pathology, laboratory medicine, or other physician specialty practices is preferred but not required.
