Job Title: Maintenance Helper / Janitorial

Job Summary
Responsible for maintaining facility cleanliness, executing janitorial schedules, supporting minor facility maintenance, and ensuring strict adherence to quality, safety, HACCP, and SQF procedures.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Facility & Janitorial Care: Execute daily janitorial schedules; clean and restock washrooms, offices, lunchrooms, and production areas; perform deep equipment cleaning in a safe, efficient manner.
Facility Maintenance: Perform minor facilities maintenance including changing light bulbs and filters, minor plumbing repairs, touch-up painting, ceiling repair, and outdoor building/grounds upkeep.
Equipment & Safety Operations: Operate janitorial floor equipment, garbage compactors, industrial grinding and baling machines, ladders, aerial lifts, and forklifts safely; perform basic equipment lubrication under supervision; maintain a safe work area following all plant protocols.
Chemicals & Inventory: Safely handle and apply cleaning chemicals according to protocol; conduct weekly inventory of cleaning supplies and submit orders to the Maintenance Supervisor.
Quality & Compliance: Follow all HACCP, SQF, and facility safety policies and procedures at all times.
Maintenance Support: Assist the maintenance department with minor tasks as needed.
Non-Essential Duties
Assist and help train team members as needed.
Maintain flexibility to work overtime as required.
Tech-Level / Supervisory Duties (When Applicable)
Direct and assign daily tasks for the janitorial team.
Conduct and document department training.
Verify and sign off on completion of the Janitorial Master Cleaning List.
Qualifications & Requirements
Experience: Basic exposure to cleaning chemicals and routine janitorial/facility maintenance duties (sweeping, mopping, trash removal, office/restroom care).
Skills: Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English; basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication).
Physical Demands: Frequently required to stand, walk, reach above shoulder height, and lift/move up to 25 lbs (occasionally up to 50 lbs using proper lifting techniques). Ability to work from ladders/aerial lifts.
Work Environment: Loud production environment with temperature fluctuations (above/below 70 F). Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required at all times.
