DIRECTOR OF SALES
Mammoth Fieldhouse Marion, IL
Full-Time, Exempt Reports to Director of Operations Sales and Events
About Mammoth Fieldhouse
Mammoth Fieldhouse is where Southern Illinois comes to get off the bench. Pure Putt. Flight Deck. Pickleball. Battle Bats. A scratch kitchen and a full bar that would draw a crowd on their own. Open play, leagues, tournaments, and private events, all night, every night.
Three rules run our buildings: No Sidelines, No Spectators. Elite Isn't Exclusive. Competition Is Community. Everyone plays, everyone belongs, and a good time beats a good score. We do not shout. We cheer. There is a big difference, and everybody who works here learns it fast.
About the Role
You own the revenue that does not walk in the door on its own.
Open play fills the building on a Friday. The events business is what makes the rest of the week work, and the Director of Sales owns it end to end: corporate buyouts, holiday parties, tournaments, leagues, group outings, and memberships.
You will build this book from nothing. That means building the pipeline, writing the packages, setting the pricing, hiring and leading two Event Sales Managers, and personally closing the accounts that matter most.
You will also protect the operation. A booking that damages the guest experience is not a win, and you are the one who has to know the difference.
What You'll Own
Revenue Ownership
- Own the events, group, and membership revenue budget for the venue.
- Build and manage the pipeline: prospecting, outreach, site tours, proposals, and close.
- Set package structure and pricing in partnership with executive leadership, and defend margin.
- Personally own the top corporate and community accounts in the region.
- Forecast bookings accurately and report against target every week.
Team
- Hire, train, and lead two Event Sales Managers. Set activity standards and coach to them.
- Run the weekly sales meeting and the weekly BEO review with operations, kitchen, and events.
- Build the sales process and CRM discipline from scratch.
Market
- Own outbound relationships across Southern Illinois employers, associations, schools, athletic organizations, and tourism.
- Partner with the Marketing Manager on lead generation and event collateral.
- Represent the Fieldhouse in the business community as its senior commercial voice.
Your First Year
- First 90 Days: Pipeline is built, packages and pricing are live, both Event Sales Managers are hired, and the first quarter of bookings is on the board.
- First Year: The events book carries the shoulder days, revenue lands on budget, and repeat corporate accounts are rebooking without a pitch.
What You Bring
- 5 or more years in hospitality, venue, or events sales, including 2 or more leading a sales team.
- A documented record of hitting and exceeding revenue targets.
- Proven outbound skill. You build pipeline, you do not wait for inbound.
- Command of CRM discipline, forecasting, and proposal writing.
- Comfort negotiating contracts and protecting margin.
- Flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends when events run.
Certifications
Required, at hire or shortly after:
- CPR and AED certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross. Our courts mean we keep a trained responder on the floor every hour we are open. Renewed every two years.
A plus if you already have it:
- BASSET certification. Illinois requires it for anyone who sells alcohol, serves alcohol, or checks IDs, within 120 days of hire. Valid three years.
We pay for every certification on this list and we give you the time to get it. If you do not have one yet, that is not a reason to skip applying.
Preferred
- Experience opening a venue and building an events book from zero.
- Existing relationships across the Southern Illinois business community.
- Competitive social entertainment, hotel, country club, or catering sales background.
Working Conditions
- Extended periods of standing and moving throughout the venue for the duration of a shift.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Facility has intermittent noise and variable lighting.
- Nights, weekends, and holidays required.
What We Offer
- Base pay of $70,000 to $90,000 annually, plus commission and performance bonus.
- Paid leave under the Illinois Paid Leave for All Workers Act. Up to 40 hours a year, usable after 90 days, for any reason you like. You do not have to tell us why.
- Food, beverage, and gameplay privileges. You work here. You get to play here.
- Every required certification paid for, plus the paid time to go get it.
- A seat in a growing brand. More Fieldhouses are coming, and we promote the people who build them well.
How to Apply
Send your resume and a short note telling us why this role and why this building. No cover letter template. Just tell us something true.
