School Custodian
Centennial Public Schools is accepting applications for a full-time school custodian. The primary job of the custodian is to maintain the physical school facilities and grounds in a condition of operating excellence, cleanliness, and safety, so that full educational use of them may be made at all times. Work hours will be approximately 12:30pm-9:00pm M-F with occasional overtime and Saturday duty for school events. Starting pay is $17/hour and includes 100% paid full family health insurance and participation in the state retirement system (101% match).

REQUIREMENTS:
1. Education Level: High School diploma or equivalent
2. Experience: Prior experience in housekeeping and/or commercial cleaning is a positive
3. Attendance: Performance of this position requires daily attendance except when granted by the district policy, an employment agreement or otherwise provided by law.
This position involves prolonged and irregular hours.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Keeps buildings and property in clean, safe, and orderly condition.
2. Performs routine maintenance activities.
3. Performs heavy cleaning duties.
4. Sweeps, mops, scrubs, or vacuum floors.
5. Gathers and empties trash and recyclables.
6. Scrubs, sanitizes, and supplies restroom facilities.
7. Dusts furniture, walls, and equipment.
8. Cleans windows and mirrors.
9. Mixes cleaning solutions and chemicals in containers in preparation for cleaning, according to instructions.
10. Follows procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power machinery to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
11. Cleans and polishes fixtures and furniture.
12. Shampoos or steam-cleans carpets and rugs.
13. Manages inventory of cleaning supplies.
14. Performs cleaning functions specific to the assigned facilities and/or based on seasonal/project requirements.
15. Operate small equipment such as scrubbers, vacuums, blowers, lawn mowers, small tractors, and various other small equipment.
16. May assist or perform snow removal activities.
17. Sets up and takes down chairs and tables for school events.
18. Maintenance, such as replacing light bulbs, adjusting furniture, or other similar activities.
19. Notifies managers regarding the need for repairs or additions to building operating systems.
20. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires the individual to perform considerable physical activity. This position requires heavy physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling. The work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises. This position involves prolonged and irregular hours.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Inside the school building primarily in an air conditioned building.
This position will require trips outside of the school building.
