Position Summary

Denali is seeking an experienced, dependable Mechanic to maintain and repair commercial vehicles, heavy equipment, processing machinery, and facility systems throughout the Dardanelle region.

This position supports three facilities and combines shop maintenance with mobile field repairs. Responsibilities include troubleshooting equipment failures, performing preventive and emergency maintenance, sourcing parts, documenting repairs, and coordinating work with facility managers, drivers, and equipment operators.

The ideal candidate has strong general mechanic skills, provides their own tools, and is willing to travel as needed.

This is a safety-sensitive position requiring alertness, sound judgment, and diligence. Employees are responsible for their own safety and the safety of others.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Maintenance and Repairs
  • Perform preventive, predictive, corrective, and emergency maintenance on commercial trucks, trailers, mobile equipment, processing machinery, and facility systems.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, instrumentation, and control-system failures.
  • Troubleshoot engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension systems, and related components.
  • Complete shop-based maintenance and mobile field repairs at assigned locations.
  • Inspect and adjust air-brake systems and complete or coordinate annual vehicle inspections in accordance with applicable FMCSA requirements and individual qualifications.
  • Determine whether worn or damaged components should be repaired or replaced.
  • Install, test, and commission equipment according to manufacturer recommendations and company safety procedures.
  • Test repaired equipment to confirm safe, reliable operation before returning it to service.
  • Perform welding, fabrication, cutting, and equipment modifications when qualified and assigned.
  • Coordinate contracted and warranty maintenance as needed.
Electrical and Control Systems
  • Troubleshoot flow meters, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), variable frequency drives (VFDs), transmitters, motors, switchgear, sensors, and related process-control equipment.
  • Use diagnostic software, scan tools, electrical meters, and testing equipment to identify failures.
  • Read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, blueprints, service manuals, and technical documents.
  • Document electrical and instrumentation issues and communicate complex control-system concerns to facility managers and technical support personnel.
Operational and Safety Support
  • Communicate with drivers and operators to understand equipment symptoms and service needs.
  • Provide management with repair updates, estimated completion times, and equipment status.
  • Adjust work priorities as maintenance and operational needs change.
  • Maintain clean, safe, and organized shop areas, tools, and service vehicles.
  • Follow lockout/tagout, equipment-isolation procedures, and all company safety requirements.
  • Assist facility managers and other departments as needed to support safe and efficient operations.
Minimum Qualifications
  • At least five years of experience maintaining and repairing commercial vehicles, manufacturing equipment, heavy equipment, or industrial machinery.
  • At least two years of experience servicing hydraulic-powered equipment.
  • Strong general mechanic skills, including troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of vehicles and equipment.
  • Must provide own tools needed to perform assigned maintenance and repairs.
  • Willingness to travel as needed to support maintenance and repair operations.
  • Experience diagnosing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and control-system failures.
  • Experience with flow meters, PLCs, VFDs, transmitters, motors, switchgear, and related process-control equipment.
  • Proficiency with diagnostic software, scan tools, electrical meters, and testing equipment.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, service manuals, and technical documents.
  • Knowledge of preventive maintenance, equipment inspections, repair documentation, and workplace safety practices.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to work independently, manage changing priorities, and communicate effectively with managers, drivers, operators, vendors, and coworkers.
  • Ability to perform the essential physical duties of the position.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience repairing waste, recycling, agricultural, or organic-processing equipment.
  • Experience with diesel engines and commercial truck systems.
  • Welding and fabrication experience.
  • Experience maintaining trailers, pumps, conveyors, processing systems, and heavy mobile equipment.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills.
Schedule and Availability
  • Full-time, hourly position.
  • Overtime and emergency callouts may be required.
  • Schedule may include early mornings, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays based on operational needs.
  • Must be flexible and available to travel and respond to unexpected equipment breakdowns.
Physical Requirements
  • Regularly stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, bend, reach, twist, kneel, crouch, crawl, push, and pull.
  • Frequently lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Safely enter and exit commercial vehicles, mobile equipment, and service vehicles.
  • Work underneath, inside, and around vehicles and industrial machinery.
  • Work in small, enclosed, elevated, underground, or difficult-to-reach areas.
  • Maintain the awareness and coordination needed to recognize hazards and perform assigned duties safely.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment.
Working Conditions
  • Work in shop and outdoor field environments with exposure to heat, cold, rain, wind, humidity, and changing weather.
  • Potential exposure to dust, fumes, chemicals, grease, oils, loud noise, wastewater, organic materials, and biosolids.
  • Work near moving machinery, vehicles, electrical systems, pressurized hydraulics, high temperatures, scaffolding, and elevated surfaces.
  • Use required PPE, including safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, hard hats, protective footwear, and high-visibility clothing.
  • Use seat belts when operating vehicles or equipment and follow all equipment-isolation and lockout/tagout procedures.
