Community Support Professional - Cortland - Part Time up to 19 hours
We are seeking a reliable, confident, and compassionate Community Support Professional (CSP) to provide 1:1 Community Habilitation services to two individuals with developmental disabilities in the Cortland/Homer area.
A strong candidate is someone who can build a positive relationship while also providing structure, consistency, and clear boundaries.
We're Looking For Someone Who Has:
- Experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities
- Experience providing behavioral and/or mental health supports
- Strong professional boundaries and the ability to maintain consistent expectations
- Strong de-escalation skills when someone becomes frustrated, upset, or emotionally overwhelmed
- The ability to remain calm, patient, and professional during challenging situations
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Reliability and a commitment to consistent attendance
Responsibilities Include:
- Providing 1:1 support up to 19 hours per week between the hours of 8am and 2pm. The days/times during the week can be flexible but a consistent week-to-week schedule is preferred
- Supporting community participation, promoting positive socialization, and teaching independent living skills
- Assisting with activities such as shopping, arts and crafts, attending social groups, going out to eat, and walking
- Encouraging participation in meaningful activities and community experiences
- Implementing strategies to support positive behaviors and following individualized service plans
- Providing appropriate redirection and support during challenging situations
- Maintaining clear and consistent boundaries
- Communicating and collaborating with the individuals' support team
