Job Description
An established mechanical contractor is seeking a Sheet Metal Superintendent to oversee field installation activities for commercial and institutional HVAC construction projects throughout South Florida. This position is responsible for leading sheet metal crews, coordinating field operations, maintaining productivity, ensuring quality workmanship, and supporting project schedules from installation through completion. The ideal candidate is a hands-on field leader with extensive sheet metal experience, strong HVAC construction knowledge, and the ability to manage large field teams while mentoring and developing employees. Responsibilities: Lead and coordinate sheet metal installation activities on commercial and institutional construction projects Supervise, mentor, and direct sheet metal mechanics, helpers, and field personnel Review plans, specifications, shop drawings, and project requirements to ensure proper installation Coordinate manpower, material deliveries, equipment, and project priorities with field and office teams Install and oversee installation of ductwork, mechanical equipment, dampers, louvers, supports, and HVAC components Make field decisions and adjustments to address project conditions and maintain production schedules Monitor workmanship and ensure compliance with quality, safety, and company standards Coordinate inspections, testing, and project closeout activities Maintain communication with Project Managers, Operations leadership, field personnel, and customers Support labor planning, productivity tracking, and material management Qualifications: 10+ years of sheet metal experience within commercial HVAC construction 4+ years of superintendent experience Strong knowledge of HVAC ductwork installation, mechanical equipment installation, and sheet metal systems Experience directing and coordinating large field crews Ability to mentor, train, and develop field personnel Experience making field decisions, ordering materials, and coordinating project logistics OSHA certification required ICRA certification strongly preferred Must own standard sheet metal hand tools Conversational Spanish required (English/Spanish bilingual preferred)
