Position Summary The Manager of Mechanical Engineering is a hands on technical leader responsible for managing a team of mechanical engineers developing high performance precision robotic systems and mechanisms. This role combines advanced mechanical design expertise with team leadership, product development, and cross functional collaboration to deliver reliable, manufacturable, and cost effective solutions from concept through production. Direct Reports: 5 to 7 Key Responsibilities • Lead, mentor, and develop mechanical engineers supporting new product introduction (NPI) and sustaining engineering. • Establish technical direction, project priorities, schedules, and engineering deliverables. • Oversee mechanical design, development, and design reviews to ensure compliance with engineering requirements and standards. • Provide technical leadership in precision mechanism design, bearing analysis, vacuum compatible design, thermal and structural analysis, tolerance stack ups, GD&T, and reliability. • Guide engineering calculations, 3D CAD modeling, finite element analysis (FEA), testing, and validation. • Troubleshoot complex mechanical and manufacturing issues using structured root cause analysis. • Drive design for manufacturability, assembly, performance, and cost effectiveness. • Collaborate with electrical, controls, manufacturing, quality, operations, customers, and suppliers. Required Qualifications and Skills • 10+ years of mechanical product development experience, preferably in precision electromechanical equipment, robotics, automation, semiconductor equipment, or complex machinery. • Demonstrated experience leading engineering teams, technical projects, or major engineering programs. • Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals and extensive experience designing precision mechanisms and assemblies. • Proficiency in parametric 3D CAD, mechanical analysis, tolerance analysis, GD&T, materials selection, and engineering drawings. • Experience with bearing load, deflection, and life analysis, component selection, fabrication methods, and mechanical testing. • Strong troubleshooting, problem solving, communication, and cross functional collaboration skills. • Ability to present technical designs and analyses, develop innovative mechanical solutions, and quickly learn complex product technologies. Education - Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline. Travel Requirements: Approximately 10% travel to supplier locations, including local, domestic, and international destinations.
