Job Description

A leading mechanical contractor is seeking a VDC Manager to lead its Engineering and BIM team supporting large commercial and institutional construction projects. This role is responsible for managing a team of designers, BIM professionals, and engineering personnel while overseeing the development, coordination, and quality of HVAC and plumbing shop drawings, fabrication drawings, permit drawings, and BIM models. The ideal candidate combines strong mechanical construction knowledge with leadership experience and advanced Revit MEP expertise. Responsibilities: Lead, develop, and manage a seven-person Engineering and BIM team Establish team priorities, monitor workloads, and ensure project deadlines are met Oversee the production of HVAC and plumbing shop, fabrication, permit, BIM, and as-built drawings Review project drawings, specifications, equipment submittals, and design documents Coordinate HVAC and plumbing systems with structural, architectural, electrical, and other building systems Identify and resolve design conflicts and support the RFI process Support field operations through drawing updates, coordination, and technical guidance Develop and maintain BIM standards, workflows, and drawing quality procedures Collaborate with project managers, field teams, vendors, and customers throughout project execution Drive continuous improvement of VDC, BIM, and engineering processes Qualifications: 10 years of experience supporting MEP, HVAC, plumbing, or complex mechanical-contracting projects 4+ years of experience managing a BIM, VDC, design, or engineering team Advanced proficiency with Revit MEP Ability to perform field surveys Proficiency with AutoCAD, Navisworks, or comparable 3D coordination and detailing software Experience producing or overseeing shop, fabrication, permit, BIM, and spool drawings Experience coordinating mechanical systems with other construction trades Healthcare, hospital, education, hospitality, correctional, casino, or similar project experience Ability to work onsite in Tamarac, FL
