Full-Time School Year
Thornton-Donovan School, a small, independent college-preparatory school in New Rochelle, NY, is seeking an enthusiastic, creative, and dedicated Middle School English Teacher to join our faculty for the school year.
We are looking for a teacher who loves English, enjoys working with middle school students, and believes that reading, writing, discussion, and critical thinking should be engaging and meaningful.Responsibilities

Teach Middle School English, including literature, reading comprehension, writing, grammar, vocabulary, and communication skills.
Develop engaging lessons that encourage students to think critically, express themselves clearly, and develop a genuine appreciation for literature.
Foster a positive, supportive, and appropriately challenging classroom environment.
Differentiate instruction to meet the academic needs and learning styles of individual students.
Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to students and parents.
Maintain regular communication with families regarding student progress and classroom expectations.
Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum, student support, and school-wide initiatives.
Participate in school activities, trips, and events as an active member of the Thornton-Donovan community.
Encourage students to become confident readers, thoughtful writers, and effective communicators.
Contribute ideas and creativity to the continued development of the Middle School English program.
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in English, English Education, Education, or a related field required.
Previous middle school teaching experience preferred.
Strong knowledge of literature, writing, grammar, and composition.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to connect with and motivate middle school students.
Strong organizational and classroom-management skills.
A collaborative, positive, and flexible approach to teaching.
