Position Summary
U.S. Bottlers Machinery Company is seeking an Electrical Field Service Technician / Electrical Engineer to support the design, assembly, programming, commissioning, installation, and service of custom packaging equipment.
This position works closely with our Electrical Engineering team throughout the entire project lifecycle. The ideal candidate combines strong automation and controls expertise with hands-on troubleshooting skills and the ability to work directly with customers in the field. This role serves as a key technical resource for machine startups, service calls, training, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Automation & Systems Engineering
Program and configure Allen-Bradley PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, and industrial control networks.
Develop and modify electrical schematics and control prints using AutoCAD.
Review and analyze existing PLC code to diagnose, troubleshoot, and optimize machine functionality.
Field Commissioning & Installation
Execute on-site startup, commissioning, and electrical wiring verification for custom machinery.
Supervise third-party subcontractors to ensure installation quality aligns with design intent.
Audit delivered components against inventory logs to guarantee all installation parts are present.
Customer Support & Project Liaison
Provide remote technical support via phone and email to diagnose electrical and mechanical failures.
Deliver comprehensive training sessions for customer operations and maintenance personnel.
Generate detailed reports covering installation milestones, commissioning data, and field service outcomes.
Project Management & Risk Mitigation
Collaborate with Project Managers to proactively identify and mitigate field installation risks.
Provide daily updates regarding project status, punch list items, and delivery schedules.
Gather field feedback from subcontractors to drive continuous improvement for engineering standards.
Qualifications
Required
Associate degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or equivalent technical work experience.
3-5+ years installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting industrial automation machinery.
Proficiency in Allen-Bradley PLC programming and hardware troubleshooting is required.
Strong mechanical aptitude with a hands-on approach to system diagnostic testing.
Ability to travel up to 75% domestically and internationally.
Must possess a valid driver's license and a valid passport for travel to Canada.
